When I say barbell strength training is for everyone, I mean everyone.
Think about some every-day tasks and how they relate to barbell strength training:
Barbell strength training also improves (and demands) balance and mobility, and fights against muscle atrophy, bone loss, and frailty.

There are two different phases of training when working with youth:
Training vs. Practice:
TRAINING to become a stronger athlete is best accomplished by using basic BARBELL movements that work lots of MUSCLES and lots of JOINTS over the largest effective RANGE OF MOTION.
Those exercises include:
Sports PRACTICE is where the athlete takes the strength and force production developed during training and applies it to the SPECIFIC MOVEMENTS of their sport, such as:
Strength Training + Sport Specific Practice = Improved Sport Performance.
Training + Calorie Deficit = Fat Loss Success.
Add High-Intensity Conditioning for a complete training program.
At Woodbury Barbell, conditioning is typically done after strength training. Our favorite forms of high-intensity conditioning include:
No single leg, one arm behind your back, jumping on an unstable ball exercises here.
With only a few primary barbell exercises we are able to work the most muscle mass, over a long range of motion, while using the most amount of weight, compared to any other training tool.
Strength, power, balance, mobility, endurance and body composition.
Training with barbells helps clients of all demographics successfully reach a wide range of goals.
Barbells allow us to increase the weight on the bar by as little as 1/2 lb. (if necessary) which enables progress to be made over a longer period of time. We can be extremely precise when selecting and increasing the weight on a barbell. Dumbbells, by comparison, usually go up in 5 lb. increments, and most machines in 10 or even 20lb increments.
Fight against muscle and bone loss, insulin resistance and diabetes, obesity, frailty, high blood pressure and cholesterol, inflammation, and polypharmacy (lots of drugs) by becoming stronger with barbells.
