Imagine your athletic son or daughter had a clone. Your son/daughter is able to squat 50 lbs., while their clone is able to squat 100 lbs. Which athlete - your child or their clone - will be more powerful on the field, ice, or court? Answer: their stronger clone! The moral of the story is that your son or daughter will perform better at their sport if they become stronger.
Our goal when working with youth athletes is to make them stronger using the 4 main barbell lifts -the squat, press, bench press, and deadlift.
We do NOT want strength training to look like their sport! Athletes train at Woodbury Barbell to become stronger, and then PRACTICE their specific sport skills on the ice, court, track, or field utilizing their newfound strength. Strength training and sports practice are two completely different things.
